Salsa and Pico Made to Order
The gardening bug has definitely bitten Eric big-time. We (he) have successfully managed to keep the herb garden alive thus far. Now I have so much basil I can make a big batch of pesto - looking forward to that! This past weekend we made a trip to Home Depot and bought several heirloom tomato plants and some bell pepper plants. Now we have a full container garden on the back patio. As we ate dinner out there earlier this week, I said that perhaps if this venture was successful, we could get our landscaper to install raised beds around the patio for our garden. Eric was intrigued but wasn't ready to commit -- he wants to see the fruit of his labor, pun intended. Actually, Eric can't wait to make his first batch of homemade pico de gallo and salsa. We'll let you know how it turns out.

Web site creation has been at the forefront of much of what I've done as an online business owner. While I haven't designed the look and feel of all of my sites, I've created the content for all of them. Determining what to include on a web site can be overwhelming to the most seasoned business owner. There's nothing worse than staring at a blank screen and experiencing a severe case of writer's block.
However, throughout the years, I've looked at many, many sites and have determined that there are a number of pages that generally appear on every site. These include:
- Home Page
- About Page
- Products/Services Page (include your pricing, your guarantee, and testimonials here)
- Blog (includes a search feature)
- Ezine page
- FAQ Page
- Upcoming Events (if you do a great deal of speaking)
- Contact Page
- Site Map
However, what I see missing on many sites are some essential sales pages. Many online business owners complain that they are not receiving enough sales from their site, and I attribute that to the fact that they are missing one or more of the essential sales pages that are necessary to draw in your target market and eventually convince them to purchase from you.

Free Web Page Headers
Now that I'm designing more web sites, I often seek inspiration for the header banner for the site, as that's the extent of my graphic creativity at this point. Recently I discovered a cool source of free web site headers for graphic designers.
Free Web Page Headers, offers a large collection of user-submitted header graphics that may be used free of charge under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 License. You can view/download the page headers without logging in; however, you'll need to be logged in to post a comment, rate a photo, or upload your own images.
They offer headers in over 30 categories. And, if you check out their blog, you'll find some other cool graphic design and web design tools, as well, many of which are free.
